Frequently Asked Questions

What is N-up printing used for?

N-up imposition shrinks several logical pages onto one physical sheet. It is the standard way to save paper on handouts, review drafts, slide notes, and proof sheets. A 4-up layout cuts a 40-page printout down to 10 sheets.

Does combining pages reduce quality?

No. Each page is embedded as a scaled vector form, not an image, so text stays crisp at any zoom level. Interactive elements such as form fields and links are not carried onto the sheets.

How are the pages arranged?

Left to right, top row first, in the order you list them. The 2-up and 6-up grids follow the sheet orientation. For example 2-up puts pages side by side on a landscape sheet and stacks them on a portrait sheet. The long-page layout ignores the sheet size and stacks all pages onto one tall page, scaling down uniformly if it would exceed the PDF height limit.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. N-up PDF runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. For supported workflows, file contents are not uploaded for processing; site analytics and the assistant are separate.
