Frequently Asked Questions

Does the converted Word file keep my formatting?

It keeps the text, bold and italic runs, font sizes, headings (detected from relative font size), paragraph structure, and optional page breaks. This is a beta converter with a simplified single-column layout. Tables, multi-column flows, images, and exact positioning are not preserved.

Why do I get an error about scanned PDFs?

The converter reads the PDF's selectable text layer. Scanned PDFs are just page images with no text layer, so there is nothing to extract. Run OCR on the scan first, then convert the searchable result.

Which apps can open the .docx file?

The output is a standard Office Open XML document, so it opens in Microsoft Word 2007 or newer, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, and Apple Pages.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF to Word runs entirely in your browser using pdf.js. For supported workflows, file contents are not uploaded for processing; site analytics and the assistant are separate.
