Mesh Simplifier
Reduce supported static mesh complexity to a chosen target while showing measured triangle change, preserved bounds and any geometry kept intact for safe material or boundary handling.
Workflow type: Mesh simplification export. Status: Functional. Expected result: Export result. Available action: Simplify mesh.
What this 3D tool provides
Simplify supported static GLB, OBJ, STL or mesh PLY geometry online, compare triangle counts and bounds, then download a GLB result.
- Mesh Simplifier brings GLB, OBJ, STL, mesh PLY input and the listed GLB outputs into one review sequence.
- Use the before-and-after labels for orientation, then confirm the selected file with the result guidance and format notes below.
- Accepted input: GLB, OBJ, STL or mesh PLY.
- Available controls: Target triangle ratio, Preserve mesh boundaries, Keep supported material assignments.
- Review the measured triangle change, preserved bounds and any boundary or multi-material meshes left unchanged before downloading the produced GLB file.
How to use Mesh Simplifier
- Choose a supported file — Choose GLB, OBJ, STL or mesh PLY from your device.
- Review settings — Review the available controls: Target triangle ratio, Preserve mesh boundaries, Keep supported material assignments.
- Review and download — Review the measured result and preview before downloading an available export.
Preview and result review
A mechanical bracket makes removed repeated surface detail and the preserved overall silhouette easy to compare at a practical target ratio.
- Before example: A detailed mechanical bracket mesh before simplification
- After example: The same bracket with reduced supported static mesh complexity
Simplified mesh ready: Review the measured triangle change, preserved bounds and any boundary or multi-material meshes left unchanged before downloading the produced GLB file.
Supported inputs and outputs
Input
- GLB
- OBJ
- STL
- mesh PLY
Output
- GLB
Only supported static triangle meshes are simplified. With material preservation enabled, a mesh with distinct material groups is left intact rather than flattening those assignments. Skins, morph targets, animation, point clouds and unsupported attributes are skipped or rejected instead of silently changing their behavior.
Available settings
- Target triangle ratio — range; Default: 0.5; Range: 0.15 to 1; Step: 0.05
- Preserve mesh boundaries — toggle; Default: On
- Keep supported material assignments — toggle; Default: On
Privacy and workflow limits
Supported file contents stay on this device while the selected tool runs; site analytics and the assistant are separate.
Frequently asked questions
What does Mesh Simplifier do?
It reduces eligible static triangle meshes toward the selected target and reports the measured triangle change and resulting bounds. Open-boundary meshes and meshes with distinct material groups stay intact when their matching preservation option is enabled.
Which files does Mesh Simplifier support?
Supported static GLB, OBJ, STL and mesh PLY triangle geometry can be simplified and exported as GLB.
Is my 3D file uploaded?
Supported file contents stay on this device while the selected tool runs; site analytics and the assistant are separate. The selected file is not uploaded for the supported processing workflow.
What should I review after using Mesh Simplifier?
Fine features, small holes and sharp edges can change at lower target ratios. Skinned, animated, morph-driven and point-only inputs are not silently simplified; inspect the result before using it.
