What is ASCII art?

ASCII art uses characters with different visual densities to approximate light and dark image regions. This tool renders that character pattern as an image.

What is the difference between monochrome and color mode?

Monochrome renders the character pattern with one foreground color. Color mode samples the source image and applies those colors to the rasterized character cells.

What does the download contain?

The current browser workflow downloads a raster PNG of the rendered character art. It does not export editable text or HTML.

What output width should I use?

A smaller character width creates a chunkier result and processes less detail. A larger width preserves more structure but creates smaller character cells.
