PDF Tool
PDF Attachments

PDFs can carry other files inside them, source spreadsheets, XML invoices, images, or notes, but most viewers hide that panel. Load a PDF to list every document-level attachment with its size, save any of them to your device, mark ones to remove, and queue new files of any type (up to 25 MB total per save). Saving writes a new PDF with the updated attachment table; the original file on your device is never modified.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are PDF attachments?

Files embedded inside the PDF itself, so they travel with the document. For example an XML invoice, the spreadsheet a chart was made from, or supporting images. This tool lists the document-level attachments recorded in the PDF's embedded-files table.

What file types can I add, and is there a size limit?

Any file type can be attached. The tool caps additions at 25 MB total per save to keep in-browser processing responsive. Note that some PDF viewers restrict opening certain attached types (such as executables) for security reasons.

Why doesn't my PDF viewer show the attachments?

Many viewers hide the attachments panel by default. In Adobe Acrobat it is under View, then Show/Hide, then Navigation Panes. Also note this tool manages document-level attachments; file annotations pinned to a specific spot on a page (paperclip or pushpin icons) are a different mechanism and are not listed here.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF Attachments runs fully in your browser using pdf.js and pdf-lib. The PDF and every file you attach or extract stay on your device.
