Frequently asked questions

How many clips can I use?

Two or more, up to twelve in one pass. Each cut between neighbouring clips gets its own transition and its own length.

Why is the exported video shorter than the clips added together?

A transition overlaps its two neighbours, so the shared material is played once instead of twice. The studio shows how much total duration the overlaps remove before you export.

What happens to the audio?

Audio from every clip is mixed onto one timeline with an equal-power crossfade under each transition, then re-encoded. Clips without an audio track are treated as silence, and audio encoder availability varies by browser.

Why does a transition get limited on short clips?

A transition needs material either side of the cut. When the requested overlap would use most of the shorter neighbour the studio caps it and explains which clip is too short, because past that point the picture holds still at the cut.

Do the clips have to be the same size or frame rate?

No. The first clip sets the output frame and the others are fitted into it, and every clip is resampled to one output frame rate so the cut does not drift.

How to verify a Add Transitions to Video export

Check the file again in the platform or editor that will consume it.
  5. Compare the exported clip with the untouched source at the same viewing scale and, when useful, matched playback volume. Look for unexpected crops, padding, stretch, softness, banding, halos, color shifts, temporal jumps, repeated or missing frames, and changes in file size or codec that matter to the destination. Decide whether any difference is acceptable for the stated task.
  6. If the result is missing, fails to play, or differs from the preview, first confirm that the source opens independently. Reload the page, retry with a small controlled sample, reset optional controls, and preserve the exact on-page message.
